“We Are The Monsters” is a humorous dance performance for children aged 4-8 that can be enjoyed by all audiences. Join the fantastical journey through the monster world as curious creatures appear and disappear, moving in strange and impossible ways.
A monster species represents a microcosm of society where different creatures inhabit a shared space. This space is conceived as a landscape constructed out of cardboard boxes. In contrast to the fantasy of the monsters these objects suggest the ‘homemade’ and an experience of everyday life. The costumes in We Are The Monsters not only create the monster figure but also an aesthetic and new logic of movement, e.g. an upside down figure that appears to walk on its hands and defy gravity. The performance is accompanied by a 45 minute post show workshop that involves drawing, movement and sound to extend the expereince of the performance and the imaginary of monsters.
