WE ARE THE MONSTERS
A monster species represents a microcosm of society where different creatures inhabit a shared space. This space is conceived as a landscape constructed out of cardboard boxes. In contrast to the fantasy of the monsters these objects suggest the ‘homemade’ and an experience of everyday life. The costumes in We Are The Monsters not only create the monster figure but also an aesthetic and new logic of movement, e.g. an upside down figure that appears to walk on its hands and defy gravity. The performance is accompanied by a 45 minute post show workshop that involves drawing, movement and sound to extend the expereince of the performance and the imaginary of monsters.
