Inspired by the effects of the natural world on the imaginative subconscious, “The Violet Hour” is a new dance work set within a dark and mutable landscape, materializing like a shifting apparition from the beginning or end of time.
Through a series of choreographic episodes shaped by an uncanny coalescence of movement, song, and digital imagery, ‘The Violet Hour’ is about the subversive potential of striving for a states of transformative hybridity with the elusive idea of nature. Moving between real and digital realms, it proposes a surreal exploration of the relationship between humans and our surroundings, stretching the notion of how we are both influenced by and implicated in the changing ecologies around us.
In an increasingly precarious world, ‘The Violet Hour’ proposes a defiant convergence with the frequencies that exist between the landscape around us and the inner landscape of the imagination.
